Neil Turner

World renowned, Neil Turner doesn't require any introduction. He primarily uses Australian timbers and works in a highly sympathetic way with the material, the natural features of the timber informing the finished piece.

Neil’s work has been shown in galleries across Australia and internationally. His fine sculptures and furniture feature in both public and private collections and he has received public art commissions.

At Tools, Timber and Techniques, Neil will be demonstrating a range of turning and carving techniques.

Timbecon Turning with Colin Truscett - The Silent Woodturner

Fine Woodworking Association WA

The Fine Wood Work Association WA was founded at Karri Valley in Western Australia's South West in 1987 following a meeting of craftspeople interested in establishing an association which would encompass all forms of fine woodwork.

The Association welcomes members who have a love of fine timber craftsmanship and the desire to create quality woodwork. This includes anyone who aspires to improve their skills, as well as those who are already expert crafts people.

The Joy of Wood

Our Veteran’s Forge is a not-for-profit organisation set up by veterans to help other veterans with PTSD “Post-traumatic stress disorder” and other associated medical issues after discharge from the ADF “Australian Defence Force”.

Blacksmithing like Defence teaches various skills. Unlike many one-off activities offered to veterans, Our Veteran’s Forge introduces veterans to blacksmithing on a weekly basis. With the option of ongoing membership in the veteran community.

Women On The Tools

WOTT is the passion project of Janet Carter (JC), set builder, props maker and general arts-related construction wizard. JC trained at the WA Academy of Performing Arts as a set builder and props maker, learning carpentry, welding and a host of other trade skills. She has spent more than twenty five years working in workshops (her own and other peoples), building things, solving problems and teaching skills to all sorts of people.

Parking and pick ups.

For the safety of our exhibitors and the public, both car parks are closed on the day. You will find plenty of additional street parking close by.

Pick ups on the day will be limited to products that weigh less than 30kg. For any larger items your will need to organise to collect them the following week or speak to our staff about delivery options.
