Sherwood Benchtop Knife Maker’s Belt Grinder 1220mm 48in
Bring professional-level grinding to your workshop—without sacrificing space or performance.
The Sherwood Benchtop Knife Maker’s Belt Grinder is purpose-built for precision blade work, offering the power, control, and versatility needed by serious makers in a compact, bench-friendly design.
Industrial Power, Total Control
At the heart of this machine is a robust 750W (1HP) 3-phase motor paired with a variable frequency drive, delivering smooth, consistent performance across the full speed range.
With infinitely variable speed from 0–1200 metres per minute, it provides maximum torque—even at low RPM—giving full control for everything from aggressive stock removal to delicate finishing work.
Despite its industrial capability, the grinder conveniently runs from a standard 10A 240V outlet.
Built for Ease of Use
The flat-plane tracking system makes belt alignment simple and reliable. Once set using the easy-adjust tracking knob, the belt stays true—even under heavy load—so there’s no constant readjustment required.
Switching between horizontal and vertical grinding positions is quick and straightforward, allowing the machine to adapt to different tasks with ease.
Full guarding around each wheel enhances operator safety without compromising access or usability.
Precision Where It Matters
Designed with knifemakers in mind, this grinder offers excellent control and accuracy across a range of grinding applications.
Dual flat platens (150mm and 120mm) provide stable support for flat grinding, while 48mm contact wheels make it easy to work smooth internal curves. The machine is equally capable of flat grinding and slack belt grinding in both vertical and horizontal configurations.
For edge work, the adjustable tool rest tilts to any angle, allowing for precise bevel control and repeatable results.
A heavy base, precision bearings, and low-vibration design ensure smooth operation whether mounted to a bench or used with rubber feet.
