When repairing knots, cracks and other timber defects with a compatible Knottec hot melt adhesive system, specialist accessories can help control the cooling process, remove excess hardened adhesive and keep the surrounding workspace clean. The Knottec Mouseplane Flush Trimming Tool provides a quick way to remove excess dried adhesive after a timber repair has cooled. Combining the comfortable handling of a small plane with the cutting action of a sharp chisel, it sits flush against a timber surface or edge and neatly trims away protruding glue. This can reduce the amount of heavy sanding required to level a repair. Its curved body fits comfortably in the hand, while the carbon steel blade is designed to retain a sharp cutting edge. The Mouseplane can also be used for edge levelling and cleaning into cabinet corners.

For faster cooling after filling knots and defects, the Knottec Aluminium Heat Sink draws heat away from the repair into its 85 x 40 x 40mm aluminium block. Rapid cooling allows the repaired area to become ready for trimming and sanding sooner while helping produce a durable repair. Heat sink blocks can also be useful when repairing knot holes that pass completely through a workpiece or occur at an edge. Two blocks can be positioned to create a temporary form around the void while the hot melt material is applied and cooled.

A Knottec TECMAT Silicone Release Mat helps keep the workbench clean during hot melt repairs. The clear 200 x 200mm silicone mat can be positioned beneath the glue gun to catch adhesive drips and protect the work surface. Once the hot melt glue has cooled, it can be peeled away from the silicone surface, simplifying clean-up.
