This rest does not seem

This rest does not seem to have a flat base and tends to rock a little if one end is pressed onto the bench.
Also when the rest is on the bench, the left hand side tilts down 0. 01 degrees. I don't know if this is a problem, but I think that it may grind out of square.
I have tried to gently sand the base on a fixed belt /disk sander which showed high spots in the middle off the base but little else.
Please advise what I should do next.
