Sherwood 510mm Maxi Wood Lathe  

The Sherwood 510mm Maxi Lathe is the perfect solution for serious woodturning. Its 3-phase, 3HP motor delivers full torque throughout the speed range. The swivelling headstock features a massive 510mm swing – unmatched in its capacity for large diameter work. The impressive cast-iron bodywork ensures safe and precise turning without movement or vibration. And the handy magnetic, moveable switch-box gives you the ultimate versatile work station – no more stretching for that switch. 

Power Plus 

The rugged, reliable 3-phase induction motor offers a full 3 horsepower output, delivered through two pulley settings. One pulley allows  up to 3550rpm for fast, clean shaping of thinner stock, while the second setting gears things down for maximum torque. Perfect for maintaining stability when roughing irregular pieces, or for turning some of our harder Aussie timbers. And while the motor is 3-phase, it still plugs into a standard Australian 10A household supply.

Mobile Headstock  

The Sherwood 510mm Maxi Lathe features a swivelling headstock with index points at multiples of 45 and 90 degrees, allowing ultimate versatility for intricate tasks.   Sliding along the precision-ground cast-iron bed, the headstock can be locked in place on the tailstock side for outboard turning of large pieces. 

Electronic Variable Speed

When you need the best possible level of control to optimise your accuracy and eliminate speed-related tear-out and chatter, then EVS is essential. Accurately dial in the perfect speed for your operation, and return to it with confidence again and again using the onboard tachometer. Go up to 3550rpm for fast, clean shaping of thinner stock, or slow things down for removing large quantities of materials and rough cuts with maximum torque. Perfect for maintaining stability when roughing irregular pieces, or for turning some of our harder Aussie timbers.

Forward and reverse settings allow you to hollow out your projects with ease, keeping eyes on what you’re doing, as well as allowing the cleanest finish as you sand in both directions. The power is in your hands. 

Quick Change

The brilliant swing-away tailstock fitting is super useful for hollowing and other turning tasks that involve getting on the inside of the object. Simply swing the tailstock out of the way - no need to remove it!  

Accessorise

The included live and spur centres, face plate, knock-out bar and 350mm tool rest, means you’re ready to get turning straight out of the box! Every fitting on this lathe is specifically design to fit the industry-standard morse tapers and threads, so unlike some of its competitors, it excels when performing at its maximum capacity.
