Kirschen Mortise Chisels have a sturdy blade for clearing out wood waste, with wide side edges that help keep the chisel square when working in the mortise. The mortise chisel has a leather disc shock absorber, as well as a steel ferrule around the handle-end to protect the handle when striking with a mallet.

Kirschen tools are still largely crafted in the way they were made decades ago, forged from the finest steel and carefully heat treated to 61 Rc for exceptional edge retention along the entire working length of the blade. Electronic monitoring during the forging and hardening process ensures that high standards are consistently maintained.
