A traditional plunge router bit with bearing
These bits are handy for the same reason as the classical plunge router bits in that they can be used to cut grooves in a variety of work pieces with the added convenience of a top bearing guide.
This means that they are easier to align with the use of a fence guide to get more accurate trench cuts. They can also be used to cut classical edge grooves as long as the height it set so that the bearing does not come in to contact with the workpiece.
