Tim Skilton - a world renowned woodturner developed this system to make his life easier, and thought that it was such a good idea, he made it commercially available.
Each pad has a soft yet pliable blue section that allows compression of the pad to follow the shape of the work piece curve. The black section is harder to provide stability but is still pliable enough to following the shape of any curve.
Leave your work piece on the lathe and turn at a high speed. Run the pad over the work piece with various grits to achieve the desired effect. The opposing directions of the work piece turning against the head of the sander makes the sanding more aggressive reducing the time taken yet provides a smoother finish as the multi-directional action results in an orbital sanding effect being created.
The handle can accept either the 50mm or 75mm heads (available separately) and are interchangeable so you can match the size perfectly. These pads can also be run in a drill like the other Skilton sanding heads if you would like to in the future.
Check the 50mm and 75mm sanding pad products for accessories such as replacement discs and the lambswool buff that can bring about an impressive lustre when finishing with all oils and waxes.
