This machine packs a punch - the design originally developed for Delta in the US - has been in production now for decades and is a capable performer. The main difference between this unit and the industrial thicknessers is that rather than having a fixed head, the cutterhead assembly is adjusted to the the correct height. This also means the motor must be part of the cutterhead assembly - similar to portable, benchtop thicknessers. This design is far more economical to produce and therefore allows for entry-level pricing.
This unit is recommended for serious home woodworkers or small trade workshops on a budget and has the following important features -
- Castors built into the base for ease of movement around the workshop
- Cast-iron infeed and outfeed tables
- Two feed-speed gearbox
- Cutterhead locks for consistent thicknessing large quantities of material
- Triple belt-drive with dust chute built into unit
