Narex Marking Knives with Finger Indents

Narex Marking Knives are an essential tool for creating marks on wood when laying out precision joinery or transferring measurements - a critical tool for all woodworkers either enthusiast or professional.

Available in 0.75mm, 1.2mm and 2.5mm blade thicknesses - please select your preferred option from the dropdown menu.

To achieve tight joints, it is important to mark out your joinery accurately. The best way to achieve this is to use a purpose made Marking Knife. These Narex Marking Knives are a quality knife, sharpened and ready for use straight from the packaging.

    The Blade

These Narex Marking Knives feature a through tang stainless-steel blade with a hardness of 57HRc, the equivalent hardness of a good quality everyday pocketknife. This means the steel is rust resistant, easily sharpened yet will hold an edge even with extensive use.

These knives are machined to double bevel spear point of 55 degrees. The knives have a flat back, and the each cutting bevel is sharpened to 15 degrees. The double bevel means the knives are very versatile allowing you to scribe in any direction and suit both left- and right-handed woodworkers. This design and combination of cutting angles delivers a fine, low angled marking tool perfect for detailed work.

Why are the blades different thicknesses?

These Narex Marking Knives are available with 0.75mm, 1.2mm or 2.5mm blade thicknesses. The thickness of the blade sets the rigidity of the Marking Knife and determines the tools best application. Thick blades are good when working with grainy and highly figured timbers. The rigid blade resists the tendency to follow the grain thus keeping your scribing’s true. Thin blades allow the tip to flex into tight spaces making them ideal for marking out dovetails and complex joinery. Woodworkers usually possess several different Marking Knives to suit the range of work they do.

    The Hand Grip

These Narex Marking Knives feature a two part flat polished Rosewood handle, fixed by brass pins along the length of the tang. This sturdy construction means your knife will not flex during use and ensures a long lifespan. The flat handle profile feels good in the hand and won’t roll off the bench when you put it down.

A lovely feature of these knives is the machined finger indentations. This makes the knives very comfortable to use and allows the tip of your finger to be super close and in line with the cutting tip - the knife is now an extension of your finger. There is no better situation to deliver accurate marketing.
