These simple, affordable, one-piece taper reamers can be used for several woodworking tasks. The small reamer (4.5 - 19.0mm) is useful to rustic furniture makers for back-tapering holes for through-tenon wedging (see diagram), as well as for general tenon tapering, being complementary to our pro taper reamer (item #05J6101) because of the overlapping size range.
First-time Windsor chairmakers will find the large reamer (3.5 - 30.0mm) indispensable for tapering leg sockets. The bits are 85.5mm and 140mm overall respectively with a 7.9mm hex shank. The included angle of 12.8° on both reamer bodies matches the tenons made with the Veritas® Tapered Tenon Cutters.
Designed for use in an electric drill, these tools may also be used in a traditional brace with an adapter.
